ABOUT THE PRIZE
The Innovation Prize 2020 is held by the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and National Centre for Contemporary Arts. The mission of the Prize is to support authors working in the sphere of contemporary art, to acknowledge the most significant artistic achievements and to draw attention of the general public to them.
The Innovation Prize was established in 2005 and is held under the auspices and with financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Since 2019 the Innovation Prize is held in Nizhny Novgorod in conjunction with the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
- The Prize is awarded in six competitive nominations:
- “Project of the Year”,
- “Curator of the Year”,
- “Artist of the Year”,
- “New Generation”,
- “Educational Project”,
- “Regional Project”,
and two non-competitive nominations:
- ”For Creative Contribution to the Development of Contemporary Art”,
- “For the Support of Contemporary Art in Russia”.
403 applications were submitted for the competition in 2020. The Prize fund comprises 3 000 000 rubles.
Innovation 2020 calendar
- 27 January — 23 February 2020 — acceptance of applications.
- 15 March 2020 — meeting of the Prize expert council to draft shortlists.
- August 2020 — meeting of the jury to define winners.
- 21 August 2020 — the awards ceremony.
