03.10.2019 — 06.10.2019
This curatorial forum was an international platform for artistic communication that was set up in Saint Petersburg on the initiative of the NorthWestern branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in partnership with the “TOK” creative association of curators. The first Curatorial Forum included an international symposium entitled “The process of expanding the boundaries of contemporary art and the curatorial profession”, a portfolio review and an extensive Art Weekend programme for professionals and the wider public — featuring exhibitions, discussions and studio tours. The core of the professional programme was shaped by the organisers of the forum, and the numerous events put on at the 25 city sites participating were prepared by the curators and artists of various Saint Petersburg galleries, museums and self-organised spaces. “The mission of the Curatorial Forum is to create a platform for discussions, networking and the initiation of new projects, including international ones. The Forum’s events help make artists’ workshops, independent art spaces and galleries more visible and accessible. The project is aimed at supporting local initiatives in the field of contemporary art, expanding and engaging the widest possible audience in relevant cultural processes,” remarked Natalia Khvoyenkova, producer of the Forum.
