Artem Loskutov is an artist and media activist whose calling card was the “Monstration” project — an annual demonstration with humorous and absurdist slogans that brings together thousands of participants across the country. A description of Artem Loskutov’s latest project is reproduced on the website of Rusfond, a charitable foundation that provides assistance to seriously ill children: “Rusfond has received 1.5 million rubles from the artist Artem Loskutov, which he obtained from the sale of one of his works at a charity auction. The Novosibirsk artist and actionist Artem Loskutov announced that he was holding an auction for Rusfond on his Facebook page on the 8th December. Bidding was then opened for the work Without love, nothing works (2019), with a starting price of 1 ruble. By that evening, the artist announced that the auction had ended in victory for a bidder who had offered 1.5 million rubles for the work. The buyer wishes to remain anonymous. Loskutov’s work was based on a stainless steel sign plate similar to one mentioned earlier in an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Foundation. After the results of the investigation came out, it was discovered that the sign had disappeared from Central Park in New York.”
